If you’re looking for the most serious of off-roading vehicles available, look no further than the most recognisable vehicle in the world, the legendary Jeep Wrangler. The extreme fun and freedom capability machine, it takes all of the right features, a four-wheel drive, ample ground clearance, and a lively suspension that puts them all in one go-anywhere package. A 285-hp, Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 is the sole engine with a five-speed automatic transmission. Jeep does best by keeping it simple, there are three versions available: Wrangler Rubicon with Rock-Trac 4Wd system, Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with Command-Trac 4WD system, and Wrangler Unlimited Sport with Command-Trac 4WD system.
The Wrangler Rubicon (price at RM338,889) are dedicated to give the most for off-roading capability where it can be seen by the specifications such as a lower gear ratio, Dana 44 heavy duty front and rear axle, and heavy-duty suspension system, it comes with two doors. On the other hand, the Wrangler Unlimited Sahara (price at RM328,889) comes with four doors and more dedicated towards comfort and luxurious experience with their upgrade on the interior, while Wrangler Unlimited Sport (price at RM288,889) have a more basic specs and suitable for off-roading that is not too aggressive with a four doors alternative.
What makes the Wrangler so attractive is that it is a mix of off-roading ability and everyday usability. The Pentastar V-6 engine can clock 0-to-100kph in under seven seconds where no Wrangler has ever gone before. The current generation is longer and wider than before and the ride is more acceptable. But there is no doubt this is an off-roader first and a luxurious vehicle second. Like all good Jeeps of the past, the Wrangler is definitely happier in the mud than on the road.
