The first image hinting at an upcoming Audi concept car has been revealed, ahead of its full reveal at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November.
The rather murky silhouette hints at the VW Group brand’s future design direction, which will be previewed to all in LA in the form of an all-new concept car. The image and concept bear the signature of Audi’s new Head of Design, Marc Lichte.
There are conflicting rumours as to what the concept might be, although we feel that the core features of the teaser could hint towards the forthcoming version of the R8 sports car. It’s difficult to make out any distinctive design features, but the concept looks to be based on sports coupe styling. Fluid lines and curvaceous panels can be picked out, while bulging arches add a further sporty dimension.
Online rumours suggest that it could also be a preview of a range-topping A9 concept. Set to battle the Porsche Panamera and Mercedes CLS, the rumoured A9 would be a four-dour coupe at the more expensive end of the market. Like rivals, there is expected to be a scorching variant, dubbed the S9 or RS9, with Audi’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. This could allegedly pack up to 600bhp.
